• Die Besonderheit der zweijährigen Fachoberschule für Gestaltung ist der fachpraktische Unterricht in der Klassenstufe 11. Bestandteil des fachpraktischen Unterrichts ist ein Praktikum in einem Unternehmen oder einer Einrichtung. (z. B. Museum, Galerie, Druckerei, Werbeagentur)

• Die Ausbildung schließt mit einer praktischen Prüfung im Fach Künstlerisch-ästhetische Praxis, sowie schriftlichen Prüfungen in den Fächern Deutsch, Englisch und Mathematik ab. Eine mündliche Prüfung kann bei vorliegenden Voraussetzungen in allen Unterrichtsfächern stattfinden.

• In Klassenstufe 11 Durchführung einer praktischen Tätigkeit mit gestalterischem Bezug gemäß Rahmenlehrplan in einer geeigneten Einrichtung im 14-tägigem Wechsel mit der schulischen Ausbildung

Der Unterricht an der FOS bereitet die Schüler auf ein Fachhochschulstudium vor. Ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Entwicklung von Studierfähigkeit ist die Facharbeit, welche jeder Schüler der Fachoberschule schreibt.

Since 2001 the specialised higher secondary school exists as a special school type at our mediencollege.

Subsequently to a successfully finished professional education (for the one-year course) or directly after the graduation from the secondary school [grade 10 – GCSE] [for the two-year-course) the students get a chance to prepare themselves for studies at an advanced technical college and to improve their artistic abilities and skills.

After one-year or two-year full-time education and a successful final exam the aim of a general advanced technical college entrance certificate has been reached, which qualifies the graduates to study at German advanced technical colleges.

The special feature of the two-year Specialised Higher Secondary School for Design is the practical education in the first year with the opportunity to work in companies or institutions like museums, galleries, printing offices or advertising agencies.

The general area of this course comprises subjects like Social Studies, German, English, Mathematics as well as Computer Sciences, History and Physics. The design-specific area offers subjects like Art and Cultural History, the Art of Drawing and Painting and Sculpture as well as Technical Drawing and Multimedia Design.
